Beiden zijn afgestudeerd aan de TU Delft (in 1990 resp. 1988). Al tijdens de studie werkten zij gezamenlijk aan verschillende bouwopdrachten, een samenwerking die tot op heden succesvol gebleken is. Getracht wordt met elk bouwwerk duidelijk stelling te nemen en zodanig maatwerk te leveren, dat de neutraliteit van de gemiddelde nieuwbouw overstegen wordt. Een sterk concept en ruimtelijkheid gaan daarbij hand in hand met een uitgekiende detaillering. Gesprekken met opdrachtgevers, of het nu particulieren zijn, de Rijksgebouwendienst of een Turkse gemeenschap, leveren daarnaast elke keer weer verrassende inzichten op die het ontwerp verrijken.

SUMMARY

AG Architects is an ambitious agency which has completed many different projects in commercial construction, serial housing, apartments and private residential constructions with much enthousiasm in the past twenty years.
The office in Haarlem, the Netherlands, has developed into a professional think tank of 12 people with expertise in a broad field of engineering.

Our work is varied and dynamic. For example, AG architects has recently been particularly involved in the following projects:

  • Children daycare center on IJburg, Amsterdam
  • The interior of the Cancer Center of the Groningen University Medical Center (completed in December 2010). [read more about this project .. ]
  • A villa in the dunes (completed in September 2010);
  • Renewing the entrance of Circuit Park Zandvoort (completed in July 2010);
  • A new village center with 120 care homes, and neighborhood supportcentre in Kudelstaart
  • The indoor and outdoor sports facilities of Saplaza in Haarlem;
  • Several private villas and house extensions;
  • Expansion of the supermarket Albert Heijn Overveen;
  • Clinic for bloodtesting and a new cancer-treatment Center UMCG;
  • Housing for the elderly in Zuid-Scharwoude and Lisse;
  • Apartment building with 20 apartments in Zandvoort;
  • Different projects on Bonaire (Dutch Antilles)

AG architecten stands for decisiveness and creativity in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction management and sustainable building.

AG Architecten focuses on each design assignment to formulate adequate solutions to the requirements and also will pay a great deal of attention to the emotional aspects of buildings and spaces.

We feel that in the realization of projects not only the end result is important, but also how this result is attained, so we combine our creativity with an open mind and a good ear for our commissioners.


COMPANY PROFILE

AG Architects Ltd. is the architectural firm of Anouk Vermeulen and George Polman.
Both are graduates of TU Delft (Technical University) in 1990 respectively 1988. During their study they worked together on various construction projects, a collaboration that has proven successful to date.

The characteristic of AG Architects is the combination of strength in design and professional services. In addition, we combine the advantages of a full-service organization with the strength of a medium sized office.
That means all the necessary knowledge and experience are available in-house, we offer short lines of communication and an efficient project-organization.

With each assignment we provide customized work for our commissioners, this prevents our work from being average.
A strong concept and interesting spaces are combined with well engineered technical detailing.

Integration of landscape and public space is an important theme in our designs. Therefore, we work regularly with several landscape architects.

Thanks to the close relationships we have built with specialists in adjacent fields (engineers, construction cost consultants, system consultants) we are able to offer our customers a total package and fast work.
Contacts with private individuals, developers and housing associations provide surprising insights that enrich the design and help us to continually develop our skills as an architects office.

Anouk Vermeulen is member of the board of the BNA (Royal Institute of Dutch Architects), chapter Amsterdam.
